Islamabad (INP):Jan 20: The Parents Association of School Students (PASS) has shown serious concern over the withdrawal of transport facility by the federal government educational institutions. The PASS reacted to the media reports that students of most of the educational institutions falling under the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) would not be able to avail their respective institutions’ bus service from the next month due to shortage of funds and urged the government to take steps to maintain the facility or restore the earlier policy of receiving fees as free education policy will cast the parents heavy.
The parents association said previously the parents were paying Rs500 per month as bus charges to the school management as transport fee but with the stoppage of bus service, they will have to pay at least Rs3000 for private pick and drop facility per student, which will put financial burden on the already economically pressed parents. Instead of regulating and improving insufficient transport facility the government is withdrawing the facility pushing the parents in state of uncertainty, which needs to be settled at the earliest, the PASS added. The PASS said the move to withdraw the transport facility will not only create hurdle in increasing enrolment of new students as per recent derive of the government but also hit already enrolled students.
