Sindh Has Its Own HEC Now

Karachi: The Sindh government has established its own Higher Education Commission (HEC) appointed former petroleum minister, a PPP senator and owner of a private university, Dr Asim Hussain, as its chairman and his post is equivalent to a provincial minister.
Sindh has now become the first province with its separate Higher Education Commission.
Meanwhile, former HEC chairman Dr Ata-ur-Rehman said that HEC formation at provincial level was a violation of the orders of the superior judiciary.
He said that only the federation had the prerogative of having the department of higher education at its disposal, and the provinces had no right to have the said department.
