PMDC calls for deficient Medical College’s Closure

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has recommended the closure of Al-Razi Medical College, Peshawar, for lack of permanent faculty, unavailability of its own hospital and non-affiliation with any university.
The recommendation was made during the PMDC’s 137th Council meeting held in Islamabad.
PMDC President Professor Masood Hameed, who chaired the meeting, said the Peshawar High Court had already stopped the Al-Razi Medical College, Peshawar, owned by a PTI MNA for admitting students for MBBS course due to the non-affiliation of the college with any university.
He said the court had also directed the Khyber University to adjust 100 students of the college.
Professor Masood Hameed said the Cantonment Hospital, Peshawar, which was attached with the Al-Razi Medical College, had also issued show cause notice to the college for not fulfilling the terms and conditions of the agreement and for not hiring faculty and teaching staff and securing machinery/instruments for the hospital for one year.
He said the Council would consider the adjustment of the Al-Razi Medical College students in the Khyber University in the next meeting.
The PMDC president also requested PTI Chairman Imran Khan to look into the matter of a substandard medical college run by its MNA.The news.
