MoU signed to award scholarships to CIIT Students


COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) and the Punjab Educational Endowment Fund (PEEF) on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) under which scholarships would be awarded to meritorious students to pursue their graduation-level education. The signing ceremony was held here at the CIIT. Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Educational Endowment Fund Admin Director Ansar Nawaz Chatha said the PEEF would award 28,000 scholarships to meritorious and needy students in a period of five years.
“Out of these allocated scholarships, 27,500 would be awarded to female students of 11 selected districts of Punjab for intermediate-level education.” The selected districts includes Chiniot, Bhakkar, Layyah, Vehari, Muzaffargarh, Lodhran, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan. He said the remaining 500 scholarships would be awarded to needy students through partner centres of excellence, including COMSATS Lahore, COMSATS Islamabad and NUST Islamabad. The PEEF would award 7,750 scholarships during the current year (2013-14), he added. Since its establishment, the PEEF has awarded scholarship to over 60,000 students, he said, adding that the PEEF was a successful model of transparency, and there was not a single ghost scholarship recipient.Daily Times.
