KU signs Three-year accord with US Varsity


Karachi:January 23:A memorandum of understanding was signed between Karachi University and George Mason University (GMU) of the US for capacity building of KU’s public administration department with funds provided by the US government.
Under the three-year partnership signed by KU vice chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Qaiser and US Consul General Michael Dodman, public administration department would be enhanced by focusing on curriculum development and research skills.
An ongoing research seminar led by a GMU faculty member residing in Karachi is also part of the project.
According to Prof Qaiser, the partnership would benefit local faculty and students by promoting academic and cultural exchanges between the two universities and building the KU’s institutional capacity.
It would also include the use of video conferencing for short courses for students and faculty, a summer workshop at the GMU for Karachi University’s faculty, curriculum review and development, and a joint summer project based in Pakistan.
The partnership would end with an international conference in Karachi in 2016 which would address the role of research in formulation, implementation, and evaluation of public policy.The news.
