European Union Delegation Visits NUST


Pierre Mayaudon, deputy head of the European Union (EU) delegation, in Pakistan paid a visit to NUST on Wednesday. During his visit, he was briefed about the functioning of Centre of International Peace and Stability (CIPS) and Global Think Tank Network (GTTN).
In his opening remarks NUST Rector Engineer Muhammad Asghar informed Mayaudon about the research and innovations at the university. The rector briefly talked about the motivation behind the creation of CIPS. This was followed by presentations given by Dr Zahid Shahab Ahmed, faculty member CIPS, and Rabia Shoiab Ahmad, director of Corporate Advisory Council (CAC).
Appreciating the good work being done at NUST, Mayaudon spoke of long-lasting collaboration of the EU with Pakistan. He specifically talked about project “Horizon 2020” that supports a range of projects from security to science and technology. He said that there was a great potential for EU and CIPS to collaborate in security sector projects and suggested that “Horizon 2020” could be launched through a “Road Show” at NUST. The rector welcomed this idea in his concluding remarks.Daily Times.
