Computer Literacy Must for ASI Recruitment


A meeting of the ‘Police Policy Board’ on Wednesday decided to hand over the recruitment of policemen to the Education Testing and Evaluation Agency (ETEA)and make computer literacy essential for employment in the police as assistant sub-inspector (ASI).
The meeting was held at the Central Police Office with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Nasir Khan Durrani in the chair.Keeping in view the rising need and importance of the Information Technology and its relevance in policing, the board decided that computer literacy and proficiency should be made essential for requirement to the police as ASI.
The meeting also decided that henceforth, all recruitment and in-service tests and examinations should be conducted through the ETEA to ensure merit and transparency in making recruitment and promotions in the Police Department.
It also discussed the issue of the sons of the police shuhada getting overage for recruitment as ASIs against the reserved quota due to non-availability of seats. It was decided that till the availability of the seats against the said quota, the aspirants would be offered to join the police force as constables if they were eligible and seats were available.The news.
