CDA Ministry decides to end evening shift from next session

The Ministry of Capital Administration and Development (CAD) has decided to abolish evening shift which was continuing in different Islamabad Model Colleges and Islamabad Model Schools, from the next academic session (2014-2015).
An official of the Ministry of CAD told ‘The News’ that idea to abolish evening shift was given by Federal Secretary CAD Faridullah Khan to end sufferings of the parents who have to study in evening shifts and return home on closing time after sunset during winter season. “The main reason behind the proposal was to ease problems of parents and their children,” the official said.
A meeting, chaired by Joint Secretary CAD Muhammad Rafique Tahir and attended by Director General Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) Dr. Shahnaz Riaz, concerned FDE official, Parent Teachers Association (PTA), Federal Government Teachers Association (FGTA) and other stakeholders, reached a consensus that the evening shift in all the schools and model colleges should be abolished.
The meeting gave FDE three days to finalise administrative arrangements which involve in transfer of teachers and children. The news.

The FDE in the light of decision taken by the Ministry of CAD, had already identified 21 primary schools where the students studying in evening shifts would be shifted. These primary schools located in same sectors, would be declared junior campuses of model schools and colleges where they would be shifted.

On completing their primary education, the students would be admitted in senior section of model schools and colleges.

The academic staff teaching evening shifts would also be transferred to the junior campuses (primary schools). However, the teachers who are posted in evening shifts but are performing duties in morning shifts and teaching senior classes as per requirement of the institution would not be transferred to primary schools.

Presently, over 10,000 students are studying in 18 model colleges and schools in different sectors of the federal capital.
Meanwhile, the parents while appreciating the decision have demanded of the Ministry of CAD and FDE to make such administrative measures which do not affect study of their children.
It may be pointed out here that it has been uphill rather impossible task for the parents to get their children transferred in the morning shift. Now all the children would be admitted in morning shifts and treated equally. The news.
